No. Just... no. It's not the book's fault why I didn't finish this, it's me. I really can't connect to the plot, to the story, to everything. Ryan comes off as too "presko" meaning someone arrogant, and while I don't mind that usually, his magic did not work on me. Beth... Oh, Beth. I hated her in Pushing the Limits, and I loathe her here. She's fucking rude and selfish, and tries to be a martyr... in a wrong way. There's this guy called Trent who has beaten her before and beats her mom regularly. The three get arrested for misbehavior, and we soon learn he's been on the police's radar for some time now as he's widely notorious. She's given a chance to speak, tell the truth, and put the fucking asshole to jail, and you know what she does...?
Wait for it...
Wait for it...
She freaking does nothing!!!!! She doesn't tell the police anything!!!! Instead of making their lives better by putting the madman behind bars, she decides to remain mum... WHAT THE FLYING FUCK!!!!
Dude. Seriously. I was sooooooooo mad already and she kept on justifying it by saying she doesn't want her mom to go to jail as she's on probation (*roll eyes* what a martyr, this girl, really) AND she doesn't want to make Trent anymore angrier. WHUT
IF THERE'S A FICTIONAL CHARACTER I WANT TO BITCH SLAP SOME SENSE INTO, IT'S BETH. WAKE THE FUCK UP AND SMELL THE ROSES! YOU WOULD HAVE PROBABLY SAVED MORE LIVES THIS WAY AND YOU FUCKING RUINED IT. THANK YOU BUT NO THANK YOU!
I pretty much stopped at this point. I have no tolerance for this level of bullshit. This is me right now:
